What does 2.7 metres cost?
For a single level panel occupying a 2.7 m clear opening, multiply the selected metre rate by 2.7. The traditional examples below use assembled panels at the published 900 mm overall height. They are panel supply estimates, subject to a written quote.
| Pattern and handrail | Rate per metre | 2.7 m estimate |
|---|---|---|
| BS1 slats · HR1 | $228.34 | $616.52 |
| BS1 slats · HR2 | $265.39 | $716.55 |
| BS6 square balusters · HR2 | $270.58 | $730.57 |
| HMP1 / HMP4 upper-header panels | $360.00 | $972.00 |
| HMP3 / HMP9 full-cross panels | $470.00 | $1,269.00 |
See the full price table for BS4 motif, BS5 turned-baluster, kit and stair-reference rates. Hampton rates were supplied by the business owner. The calculator applies those Hampton rates to assembled HR1 or HR2 configurations; other combinations need confirmation.
Why does the handrail change the price?
Traditional panels have separate HR1 and HR2 assembly rates. For BS1, the HR2 rate is $37.05 per metre higher than HR1. The displayed 2.7 m panel estimates are $716.55 and $616.52 respectively. Compare the rail profile alongside your house details and the other openings, then keep the choice consistent in your quote brief.
HR1 is shown as 65 × 42 mm on the supplier range page, while its price table says 65 × 45 mm. Confirm the final section. HR2 is shown as 85 × 65 mm. Selected rails are included in the assembly rate; do not add the loose handrail rate again.
Are posts included?
No. All end posts and intermediate posts are excluded. Order and quote them separately. Delivery is also excluded. Installation, fixings and site work should be separately confirmed in your written quote; the displayed estimate is not an installed project price. Painting and priming are not part of our supplied finish.
Several panels or several openings?
Keep these two cases separate. Several panels within one opening need intermediate posts. Several identical openings repeat the same configuration. For planning, the calculator deducts 90 mm per intermediate post before multiplying the panel infill length by the rate. That 90 mm is a planning allowance, not a supplied post or a confirmed structural detail.
For example, one 2.7 m opening divided into two panels leaves 2.61 m of priced infill after one 90 mm planning post allowance. At the HMP3 rate of $470/m, that is $1,226.70. Two identical openings give $2,453.40 of panel infill. End and intermediate posts remain separate in both cases.
When a simple metre estimate is not enough
- BS2 is listed per item: $272.30 assembled or $73.35 kit. Item width and handrail options require confirmation before a project total can be calculated.
- Custom traditional heights, extended handrail profiles and decorative fretwork-top Hampton patterns need a quote.
- Stair flights require their own site dimensions and rake details. The level-panel preview does not price stair construction.
- BS3 is not listed in the current online source range. Send a photograph or brochure reference so the intended profile can be identified.
Prepare a quote that can be checked
Choose a style and rail in The Balustrade Shop, add each opening to your quote bag, and check the quantities before sending your request. Include a sketch and site photographs when you contact the team. Use the opening measurement guide to keep between-post measurements clear. Sending a quote request does not place a paid order.
